NASA further investigated that this crack-sealing attempt was part of the last year’s continuing project to ‘disentangle and repair the cause of a slight rise above the standard cabin air leakage frequency onboard the ISS.
Roscosmos also said that the astronauts would plug the openings immediately to mitigate the pressure loss. Afterward, the astronauts would add a few more binding paste sheets with a hardened cover, sealed with more sheets of binding paste. Additionally, the spacecrafts will transfer the instrument details and images obtained previously for further study, and the metal borings would be returned to Earth.
